Student Password Security Requirements

Student passwords must meet the following minimum security requirements:

Grades 6-12

  • Minimum length - 6 characters
  • Must be complex (see "Complexity" below)
  • Do not re-use passwords

It is advisable that you do not use whole words in your password - break them apart with numbers or symbols.

Complexity Requirements.

A complex password contains at least three (3) of the following four (4) groups of characters (anything not a command like ctrl or enter on a keyboard)

  • Upper case letters: A-Z
  • Lower case letters: a-z
  • Numbers: 0-9
  • Symbols: `~!@#$%^&*()_+-={}[]|\:;"'<,>.?/

Mouse over the above character classes and see them highlighted in the text below. You'll see that the first, complex, password includes all four groups, but the second only includes uppercase and lowercase letters.
